Reuben From Zambia To Australia
Where did Reuben’s journey with us begin?
Reuben told us he started following Skilled Migration back in 2019. And he said he felt he would never get the chance to go to Australia or Canada, but he enjoyed seeing when others got their chance and they got deployed, he said he was always very happy for those that got to go overseas.
He said his interest grew more and more when he started seeing all the postings of photos and articles that Dennis started posting about Skilled Migration Group and the way that they worked.
And in 2023 one of Reuben’s friends called him up and told him that Skilled Migration Group had an underground search going on for sand blasters and spray painters and he was given the online application address, he applied and he was contacted and given the WhatsApp number and told thet Paget, the Manager in Africa for Skilled Migration Group would contact him.
After supplying doucments to check if we could get a visa for Reuben, he was asked to select a date to attend an interview in Lusaka with Dennis and the rest of the interview team.
Reuben told us that he was so nervous that he was not himself, but we still had a great chat with Reuben – He is always laughing and smiling, he certainly is not one to drag the feeling down, everyday alive is a good day with Reuben.
Side note – Reuben still regularly checks in on Dennis, asks how Dennis is, tells Dennis make sure you take it easy boss, you have a lot more to help yet.. Seriously, Reuben, you are a genuine decent man, thank you.
A Job Offer From An Australian Company
A few weeks after the preliminary interview, we arranged for Reuben to meet some representatives from an Australian Company, again we met up in Lusaka.
It was a very flexible and friendly chat, talked about life, about work, about quality control, and painting techniques – Reuben had some photos with him of the equipment he used and everyone just listed as Reuben explained how he was trained, and how he performed his work safely, following the procedures and he talked about the prep and cleaning of the equipment.
Reuben demonstrated that he really knew his trade.
And Reuben was offered a role with an Australian Employer of choice who is the market leader in their field.
We Meet Again
The team from Skilled Migration Group worked with Reuben to prepare himself for Australia, his wife was about to give birth to their second child and things were complicated. But Reuben just kept smiling and laughing AND.. Still kept checking up on Dennis “hey boss, we haven’t spoken for a couple weeks, how you been, you looking after yourself” – Reuben, you are amazing, simply amazing..
Pack Your Bags Mate, You’re Going To Australia!
Reuben deployed to Australia on the 19th of March and he hit the ground running from day one.
What’s It Like Living And Working In Australia?
Reuben has fitted in very well into Australia, he likes Australia and it likes Reuben. His employer conducted an excellent onboarding program, with ongoing training and inductions. Capacity has increased at the Australian Company and Reuben is a very proud member of their workforce – He asked to us to say that he is very grateful to his Australian Employer for taking a chance on him and that he will not let them down.
Feedback from Reuben
Reuben said that when he first met Dennis, Dennis shook Reuben’s hand and told him “remember this day Reuben, because this day will change your life, I will get you a job in Australia”.
Reuben said he thought it was a joke – But that he doesn’t think it’s a joke now, he is now living and working in Australia, a dream that he thought would never come to someone like him and soon his family will join him in Australia and everything will be complete.
Reuben said he wanted to thank all the people that he worked with at Kansanshi Mine in Solwezi, in the North Western Provinces of Zambia – he has happy memories of the paint shop and his work mates.
He wanted to say thanks to the team at Skilled Migration that helped him when things were tough, he said we made things seem easier, straightened things out when it seemed difficult. And he was always treated very well by the team.
He had this to say about Australia He has started a new life and is meeting people in Australia that are very nice and respectful, friendly and peaceful, thank you Australia.
He and his co-workers are always pushing hard for their Australian employer and they are doing it with smiles on their faces.
Reuben confirmed that he never paid any fees or costs for anything to do with his recruitment, visa or deployment, he has no loans to repay and he is very grateful, because he said in Zambia it is very common for workers to pay fees – but the he paid nothing.
Reuben, Dennis wanted you to know that he is looking after himself, he thanks you for checking in on him and he wishes a fantastic live in Australia for you and your family.
