Technical Interviewer and Technical Trainer, Skilled Migration Group
- Qualified heavy equipment repair technician
- Trained to OEM standards
- Underground drills and loaders, and large surface mining equipment
I interview and train technicians for Skilled Migration Group.
In his own words
I am a qualified heavy equipment repair technician. I have worked underground on drills and loaders, on large surface mining equipment, and trained to OEM standards, and I now interview and train technicians for Skilled Migration Group.
The Trade
My experience has been varied: working my way up from a wide-eyed lad walking around a workshop wondering what it would be like to fix these machines, to working on large surface mining equipment and underground on drills and loaders.
While working underground as a heavy equipment repair technician, I undertook technical training to OEM standards and gained competency with process-driven and procedure-driven OEM methodologies.
Always Learning
Heavy equipment repair is complex, and the technology changes all the time. Every day we wake up, technology moves so fast that we effectively know less today than we did yesterday.
It is no longer enough to train for a few years and then work as a technician from then on. We need to be continually learning and seeking out new technologies to keep pace, not fall behind. Chatting with other technicians is a great way to fill gaps in knowledge. I listen, I hear, I learn.
Giving Back
Life is not just about how we obtain money or how much we can get.
I feel very strongly that if we are able to, we should give back to our communities, helping people with a hand up where we can.
Spending time with Skilled Migration Group, I came to realise they have a similar outlook.
It is not about the money: earn enough for what you need, do good with the rest.
