Job Description
Skilled Migration Group are currently recruiting Heavy Diesel Mechanics for Caterpillar Dealer Workshops in two states in Australia.
Heavy Diesel Mechanic – Workshop ANSCO 321212
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisors these are permanent full-time residential positions, based in capital cities.
The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out scheduled maintenance, service and repairs, and diagnosing faults on various General Line, Construction and Mining Caterpillar machines.
What You Will Do:
- Perform scheduled and daily maintenance, servicing, and inspections of mobile mining earthmoving and ancillary plant equipment.
- Maintain accurate lubricant records and machine hours of each equipment.
- Providing support to other Tradespersons through the maintenance process safely and efficiently.
- Carry out adjustments & repairs to electrical and mechanical systems, including ignition, fuel injection and cooling and lubricating systems.
- Inspection, fault finding and repair of Caterpillar diesel engines.
- Conduct fault finding using Caterpillar Electronic Diagnostic tooling. Reporting all faults, defects, and completing service reports using CAT Inspect.
- Forklift operations.
- Implement product improvement plan.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
- More than 3 years proven history of working as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic for a Caterpillar Dealer.
- Trade or Advanced Trade Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair or Diesel Mechanic.
- More than 5 years proven history of maintenance and repair of heavy equipment in the mining and or construction industries.
- High level of spoken and written English communication ability.
- Demonstrated ability of excellent customer service / working in customer facing roles.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to work within and follow safety procedures at all times.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Proven ability to work unsupervised to OEM standards.
- Must have been assessed by a Skilled Migration Group Australian Registered Migration Agent, and subject to a formal letter offer and contract of employment, and an associated 482 nomination. Confirmed as meeting the visa criteria for a subclass 482 visa for the occupation ANZSCO 321212.

- After succesful completion of a 6 months qualifiying period, the Australian Caterpillar Dealer would consider subclass 482 Skills In Demand Visa subsequent entrant visa nominations for qualifying members of the family unit.
- After succesful completion of a 12 months qualifiying period, the Australian Caterpillar Dealer would consider nominating the worker and qualifying members of the family unit for subclass 186 Employer Nominated – Australian Permanent Residency Visas.
- Pay rates and conditions in accordance with the Australian Caterpillar Dealer’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.
- Ongoing Caterpillar Certified Training.
