Trouble shooting a customer Generator fuel system- Findings; A customer Perkins Generator was brought to the workshop for a repairs, A Fuel actuator 12V output supply was wrongly wired with a fuel priming pump and fuel solenoid valve. Both solenoid valve and fuel priming pump were suppose to be supplied with a 12V output supply from a fuel relay normally open contact whereby a command is being triggered by a deepsea 4520 mark II controller output signal instead of tapping 12V from a fuel governor 12V output. A speed sensor was also found to be faulty; the cable was mechanically nipped hence there was no command to referece speed being picked by the magnetic pickup through a flywheel to allow a fuel actuator to open the lever for the fuel to pass through to the engine fuel actuator so that it can run. Had to rewire the whole circuit and replace a faulty speed sensor and a broken return fuel hose and started commissioning the genset and handed over to the Team leader.

On a Field service call[[BR]] During our annual service and repairs CAT C32 Generator main circuit breaker was tripping intermittently, had to throughly do visual inspections on the generator alternator and found this faulty varistor and replaced it with a new one. switched on/ operated a genset to commission and cross checked for any trippage and verified the circuit functionality.

Field service on call-Faulty DSE 5510 Deepsea controller: [[BR]]Troubleshooting a tripping circuit on the third genset C32 CAT generator for a Private Hospital, firstly i checked configuration parameters, connections and supply cable wires on the alternator terminal supply cables- findings; Alternator supply cable were damaged due to a rotating part a rotor which caused electrical short circuit creating a massive overcurrent, this forced extreme current loops through input/outpt circuits overheating isolation barriers and inducing severe voltage which broke down semiconductor junctions on board. external short caused current to multiply instantly creating extreme heat that melted fine PCB and burned out onboard relay contacts limiting diodes. [[BR]] After repairs, recommendations : to replace obsolete DSE 5510 (X3) and DSE 5560 (X2) controllers, this was necessary due to the fact that display screens for the controllers were showing a flickering image hence the upgrade version was critical for a seamless performance and synchronization.

DeepSea Training:[[BR]]Practical training- learning how to connect MSC link cables, learning how to link up both with other generators using a Leroy somer software to adjust and configure AVR parameter and synchronize two generators and simulate.
