Dault From Zambia To Australia
Where did Dault’s journey with us begin?
Dault’s workers journey is the story of a dream.
A dream to get a job in Australia.
That dream eventually became a reality in 2023.
The whole journey began in 2012 when Dault learnt about Skilled Migration Group recruiting in Africa for Australian Caterpillar Dealers and Komatsu Australia.
Paget is the famous figure in the whole team that Dault communicated with in 2012, Paget is the Manager of African Operations for Skilled Migration Group. And while a number of Dault’s friends and ex-coworkers were recruited for and deployed to Australia during that time. It didn’t materialise on that year for Dault.
Dault was provided with solid advice and feedback about what do to if he wanted to get hired for Australia in the future.
So close, but no cigar!
Dault’s second attempt at being hired by an Australian company was in late 2019, prior to the sad pandemic that was about to hit the globe and restrict any form of business.
The pandemic really clamped down on the world’s health, population and of course caused the loss of so many loved ones.
This time Dault had made it, but due to the restrictions of the covid19 measures it was all water under the bridge.
The covid19 boarder and movement restrictions brought everything to a standstill, as life threats skyrocketed, and everything seemed to have been shattered and the Australian dream finally seemed to fade away.
Learned the trade in Zambia and sent to the USA to be Trained by Liebherr
Dault first gained his trade certification in 2000. After he graduated he spent time working on drills, moving to join Atlas Copco working on Boomers and Dump trucks. Before joining First Quantum Mining in 2006.
Dault worked for FQM for many years clocking up more than15 years of service, and he had nothing but good things to say about his time at FQM and his old co-workers and bosses. He has fond memories of his time working at FMQ.
But hang on, in 2022 something came up! Dault’s journey took a different path and he was sent to the United States for training at the Liebherr factory in Virginia.
And this mushroomed his interest once again, for a chance of a job in Australia. Boom his dream was revamped, and the interest got restored again, Dault had the hunger once more to try and create a better life for his family by relocating to Australia.
We Meet Again
Dault decided to give it another attempt at getting employed in Australia when he heard about Dennis and the team coming to Lusaka for recruitment once more. But, it was November 2022 and Dault was really mindful of the situation and was concerned about his age.
Age did not shatter the dream and interest of trying to explore and have career advancement. Because Dault soon found out that age is not a barrier with Skilled Migration Group and he met Dennis and Brent in Lusaka for two technical interviews which was very fruitful.
After the second technical interview Dennis said to Dault, “welcome to Australia mate!” “you are going to get hired!”
And Dault said “for sure he meant what he said, as Dennis always is a man of his words, thumbs up Dennis” 👍.
Pack Your Bags Mate, You’re Going To Australia!
Dault was interviewed by a representative of an Australian Employer of Choice, Dault presented his case very well, and he was offered a role in Australia with an exceptionally good Australian Company.
The process of deployment took the centre stage of everything and in no time Dault found himself in Australia.
What’s It Like Living And Working In Australia?
The journey has not been easy. As everything took a turn, being new in a new place learning a different culture altogether was a mixed up turn of events, home sickness and missing the family and friends also creeped in.
It is not an easy journey, you have to make sacrifices and look at the end goal.
Which is creating a new, better life for our families, creating generational change.
He made new friends at work and socially, and Dault said he works hard, so that in the future his family, his children and his grandchildren can benefit from his work.
Feedback from Dault
Dault had this to say
My journey might seem hard, but others have had a more difficult journey.
My wish is that by telling the story of my journey, that it might encourage someone who might be in despair. To demonstrate that dreams are possible to achieve, and with dedication and hard work that person may continue with their pursuit to make their dream a reality.
Dault wanted to state he never paid any fees or costs for his recruitment, visa, medical or travel or deployment costs, his Australian employer paid for everything, and that he will forever be grateful for not only that, but also the chance at a better life that his Australian Employer offered Dault and his family.
That was Dault a Heavy Equipment Repair Technician from Zambia and his worker’s journey.
We are Skilled Migration Group and we tip our hat to you Dault, you are a gentleman, and exceptional tradesperson and a loyal, man of your word. You are pure quality.
